   FAQs

I have a hard time covering the dark bluish circles under my eyes. Do you have any suggestions?

Use a light peach or salmon colored concealer to neutralize the blue. The exact shade of salmon or light peach depends on the hue of your skin. (Apply with a concealer brush under the eyes as well as above the eyes. Avoid placing it to close to rim of eye as well as in the eye area. Using a sponge blend it into the above mentioned areas. Next, take your foundation with a sponge and blend into the concealed areas in a gentle patting motion. Take either a powder brush or puff with some loose translucent powder and lightly powder the areas to set the foundation.

Should my lipstick and eye shadow match the clothes I’m wearing?

I wouldn’t say everything should match. It is a good idea though to color co-ordinate your lipstick to the color family of your clothing. For instance if you’re wearing a red top, I wouldn’t want to see an orange color of lipstick on your lips. Something in the red or pink family would be a nice choice. On the eyes maybe go into the greys. Remember to keep your blush in the pinkish family also. Usually I like to have fun with my eye color choices but below the eyes I am color conscious of the choices I make.

How do I match foundation to my skin?

The right foundation color should blend into your natural skin color. There should be no difference between your chin and your neck. If you can see a line separated by a difference in color you have the wrong color of foundation.

Even though I apply powder to my foundation I still get an oily T-Zone. How do I avoid this from happening?

First of all I would invest in an oil-free foundation. Avoid putting any moisturizer on your T-Zone just apply your moisturizer to the non-T-Zone areas of your face. If your problem continues purchase an oil-free powder.

The minerals powders and mineral makeups are oil free and will not clog your pores.

How do I know what is the right color of concealer to purchase ?

Concealer should be one shade lighter than your face and your foundation shade.

Are there any creams I can use to reduce redness on my face?

Creams that are extra gentle are always your best bet. Do not use creams with Retin-A or alpha hydroxy acids. Always avoid grainy scrubs.

I can never make my lipstick last. I put it on and an hour later it seems to gone. Any suggestions?

The best way to have a long lasting lip color is first of all start with a soft lip pencil and outline the entire natural lipline as well as filling in the lip with color.  After that apply a  matte lipstick for a longer lasting effect.

Why do some people have dark circles under their eyes?

The skin under the eyes is thinner than the skin on the rest of the face and sometimes can reveal a slightly bluish color made up of a combination of veins, blood and pigment showing through the skin.

Whenever I apply dark shadow on my eyes the shadow falls on my face and messes my foundation. Any suggestions?

There are a couple of options. First of all you can try applying extra loose powder under the eyes to catch the excess and dust it off when eyeshadow is completed or do your eyeshadow first and then clean up excess under eyes and apply foundation after clean up.

Whenever I buy foundation at a cosmetic counter and get it home it usually is too light or too dark. How can I avoid this from happening?

Always take a mirror with you. Go outside and look at your face and neck in the light - you can’t go wrong with natural daylight. If the foundation on your face blends into your natural skin color and  matches the color on your neck you have made the right choice.

How do I find the right color for my eyebrows?

For the most natural looking eyebrows if your hair is dark use a shade one to two shades lighter than your hair color. If your brows are light try a shade one to two shades darker. Try to stay in shades of warm browns or taupes.
